Winter Holiday In Lake Louise, Canada

I don’t know about you, but when I plan my winter vacation I know exactly what I’m looking for: for me, winter holidays means lots of fun in the snow and quality time spent with my family and friends. That’s why every year we choose mountain resorts that can offer us comfortable stays, lots of snow and many entertainment possibilities. There are many beautiful places to visit in winter so I guess you need to know exactly what you want, so you can make the right choice.

Lake Louise (located in Banff National Park, Canada) is definitely one of the top mountain resorts you could choose. The main attraction of the resort is the lake itself, named after the Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of a former Governor General of Canada.
The turquoise colored lake surrounded by high mountains with snow covered peaks creates beautiful scenery.

How To Get To Lake Louise

The resort is located a couple of hours drive from Calgary International Airport. The road to Lake Louise (with pristine forests and snow-capped mountains stretching along the Trans-Canada Highway) will prove to be a unique experience.
You should know that in order to visit Canada you need a valid passport and visa – depending on which country you come from – and children under 18 must travel with at least one of their parents or a legal guardian.

Nearby Accommodation

Chateau Lake Louise is a hotel with a rich history and tradition, located by the lake. Besides the incredible view that one can have from their hotel room or from one of the restaurants, this luxury hotel offers its clients a wide range of exclusive services designed to bring extra flavor to a holiday in the mountains.
If you travel on a budget and look for a much cheaper accommodation, you can opt for one of the rustic hostels in the region or you can choose to rent a cabin in the mountains. This way you will enjoy your vacation away from the urban noise AND away from electricity (that’s right: no TV, no cell phone and no laptop to disturb you!). In this case you need to plan your trip in detail and pack some serious bags because once you arrive in these remote mountain areas there will be no grocery shops or gas stations nearby.

What Can You Do In Lake Louise?

Lake Louise is one of the largest ski resorts in North America and covers an area of 4,200 acres of ski slopes and winter sports areas. You can choose from various types of recreation: skiing, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating or snowmobiling.
Hiking on Mount Temple, Mount Whyte and Mount Niblock could be a great adventure but you should try it only if you are well trained. Instead, if you just want to relax you can try the horse drawn sleigh rides around your hotel.
My favorite way to spend the evening after a day playing in the snow is to sit down and relax beside a cozy fireplace and have a nice cup of tea or a hot chocolate.

We will speak in the following articles about other interesting places to spend the winter holidays, so make sure to come back soon.
