In this article I will share with you a few interesting facts you should know about the Grand Palace, perhaps the most important of Bangkok‘s travel destinations.

The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha

The main tourist attraction of the city is the Grand Palace – a very special and representative site for the Thai culture and history, consisting of several temples, palaces and gardens. The main building of the complex is 200 years old and has hosted the royal administration for nearly 150 years.

The most impressive place in the Grand Palace is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – the authentic, 2,000 years old, emerald Buddha statue is exposed in the very heart of this temple.

Regardless of what side of the world you arrive from, the Emerald Buddha Temple – a monument of amazing beauty – will certainly impress you and invite you to moments of meditation and contemplation.

Things You Should Know Before Visiting the Temple

Visitors must show their respect for divinity as well as local history, culture and tradition while visiting the temple – thus, when entering this site, they should wear decent clothes and shoes: appearance and clothing should be appropriate in order to receive the permission to visit this place of worship.
