Amsterdam travel experience

A truly unforgettable travel experience – that’s what the short visit to the Dutch capital meant for me.

If you want to spend a holiday full of new experiences, hectic and energizing at the same time, then THIS is the place for you. However, Amsterdam offers everything a tourist could wish for: various forms of accommodation (from affordable traditional Dutch hostels to elegant 4 and 5-star hotels), restaurants and terraces, bars, discos and nightclubs open 24 hours a day, cultural destinations (theaters, museums, monuments and churches), parks, markets, botanical gardens, zoo and many others.

The Canals of Amsterdam

Amsterdam, a city with approximately 750,000 inhabitants, is crossed by the river Amstel and includes numerous canals and narrow streets along them.

Also known as The Little Venice or Venice of the North (due to the canals that run through the whole city), Amsterdam is famous for the canal cruises – the most beautiful and romantic way to see the city neighborhoods.

Another inexpensive alternative to discover Amsterdam is the bicycle. Both locals and tourists prefer this mode of transport because of the ease with which one can reach any point in the city.

If you arrive in Amsterdam, you should not miss the famous Van Gogh Museum, where you can admire the most famous paintings of the artist, the Rijksmuseum and the Madame Tussaud’s Museum, (see unreal wax replicas of various musicians, actors, athletes and political figures!).

A true national symbol, the tulips have their own museum in Amsterdam. Tulip Museum is a unique place where you can learn amazing facts about this beautiful flower (for example: when and how it was brought here from the old Constantinople).

Looking for something to catch your attention even more: try a visit at The Torture Museum – an exhibition of images and instruments of torture used during the Middle Ages. It will surely give you some cold shivers!
