Adventure awaits you in Oman
Want to take a trip this year that will rank among the most exciting ones you have taken in your life? Adventure waits you in Oman, where a stable government, friendly folk, and amazing natural assets will ensure that this journey will be one that you will treasure for years to come…
Experience the solace and solitude of the Empty Quarter
Throughout the Arabian peninsula, the one natural feature that dominates everything else is the massive seas of sand that compose its interior desert. This is no different in Oman, as a short trip inland from the coast will bring to the edge of a seemingly endless series of dunes.
Climb them, and feel the burning grains as they pass through your hands. Those looking for a more leisurely experience can organize a camel safari, while those in search of adrenaline will want to ask the locals about accompanying them on a dune bashing expedition.
The latter option will see you and your new found friends racing cars and dune buggies on the soft hills of sand … a very exhilarating way to spend the day, if you ask us!
Relax on near empty beaches – or splash around in an inland swimming hole
With only 4.3 million people within its borders, and most of its population concentrated in the cities, there are plenty of beaches along its Indian Ocean and Gulf coast that are delightfully deserted. From Mughsayl Beach in the south, to the electric blue waters of Tiwi further north, you’ll find a spot to call your own.
If you are out exploring the desert interior though, you might think you won’t have a place to seek relief when the midday sun is at its worst. Fortunately, there are sinkholes and other oases that provide a place to cool your jets, like the Bimmah Sink hole. Refreshing and stunningly clear, this place is a favorite with locals, providing you with a chance to connect with native Omanis on your trip.
Hit the souks in search of a bargain
At some point, you’ll make your way back to Muscat, the capital of Oman. Before hopping on your flight back home, hit up some of the city’s busiest souks in search of some unique souvenirs.
The Muttrah Souk is one you won’t want to miss, as it is packed to the gunnels with intoxicating spices, perfumes, and dazzling jewelry forged from silver and gold.
With passageways that can best be described as maze-like, you will probably get lost. No worries, as this is all part of the fun!
