Where to Go and What to Do for Families
For most people, picking a family holiday can be a tricky task. Trying to combine everyone’s interests to avoid arguments is a real worry, not to mention the process of actually getting there!
For one in ten parents, organising their travel insurance is considered no more important than cleaning the house when preparing for a family holiday. A further 24% find packing stressful, whilst travelling to the airport is something that 18% of parents described as a demanding activity.
So, where can you find tips on how to preserve your sanity in this most stressful of situations?
Packing and Preparing:
- Check that passports are up-to-date and purchase travel insurance, visit firms like Allianz Global Assistance for insurance for the whole family. Don’t forget to exchange currency prior to travelling as well.
- Pack Clever – Anything you’ll need on arrival should be at the top of your suitcase. Share items around in various suitcases in case one is mislaid, you’ll always have back-ups in case of emergencies.
- Transport and Car Hire – How are you going to get around? Research your route and timings and always allow for traffic. Make sure you book ahead!
What Type of Holiday do you want?
- Self-Catering is an easier option if you have kids with fussy eating habits or allergies and intolerances. It gives you the freedom of what to eat and you’re not restricted by a timetable. Having a house/flat/caravan offers space of your own, but check exactly what appliances are supplied.
- All-Inclusive benefits? No washing up, cooking, or cleaning and you don’t need to worry about those extras. But check what is included to avoid additional charges.
