Places to go in the world for guaranteed sunshine
Love escaping to the beach on holiday, but seem to be dogged by rain clouds everywhere you go? There are places to go in the world for guaranteed sunshine, and in this article, we will reveal a few of our our favorite places where wet weather won’t be a concern…
Mancora, Peru
While most travel to Peru to climb high up into the heights of the Andes in pursuit of ancient Inca ruins like Machu Picchu, those seeking a holiday on the beach without having to contend with the specter of rainfall will want to make room in their itinerary to head to Mancora, Peru.
Located on the desiccatedly arid coastline of Northern Peru, to see even a wisp of cloud will be a rare sight indeed 10 to 11 months of the year. Even during the wettest part (January and February) of the calendar, only a grand total of 18 milimetres of rain is expected, making a trip even at this time not a bad plan at all.
The overall feel of the town is of one that has retained its authenticity and realness in spite of its regional popularity … expect to walk through unpaved streets away from the Panamericana, and to see locals bathing in the refreshing 24 degree Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) waters alongside tourists.
Swakopmund, Namibia
Has all those desert safaris and sandboarding expeditions in the interior of Namibia made you overheated? If so, take a trip to the coast at Swakopmund, where the one of the driest deserts on Earth meets the chilly South Atlantic.
Indeed, the waters off this popular coastal resort can be brisk at the best of times, as the ocean peaks at 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) in January. But with lots of glorious sunshine to warm you up after an invigorating dip in the seas here, it shouldn’t be too much of a concern for you.
Between sessions at the beach, enjoy this city’s unique German colonial architecture, which will charm those that encounter it for the first time.
Kiribati
Located in the heart of the South Pacific, Kiribati is one of the sunniest island nations in Oceania, boasting well over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. While this destination is one of white sand beaches and amazing shipwrecks dating back to the Second World War, conditions here are rustic compared to Hawaii, and poverty is apparent. That being said, those seeking unspoiled conditions will find it here in abundance.
