If you feel that a short holiday in the Swiss Alps could be the perfect remedy after a full year of work, then the mountain resort of Adelboden, Switzerland, with quiet nightlife and plenty of relaxing activities during the day, might be exactly what you were looking for.

Adelboden is situated in the Berner Oberland region, at a distance of about 50 km from Bern. The most common ways to reach the city are by car or train. Adelboden has over 200 km of ski slopes with different degrees of difficulty, and a large number of cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts for those who want to watch the mountain scenery from above.

In terms of accommodation, the offer is quite varied: hotels, camping areas, apartments and chalets. However, it is recommended that you book early, especially if you plan your vacation for the winter months – this is the high season in Adelboden, when tourists come here for skiing, snowboarding, sledding and ice skating.

Two interesting things you should know about this resort and the winter sports: Adelboden was the first resort to offer sports holiday packages in 1903 and is currently hosting the Audi FIS Ski World Cup.
Adelboden is also a hikers and mountain bikers paradise in summer, and a well suited family holiday destination, regardless of season.

Some very popular natural attractions located near Adelboden are the Engstligen waterfalls, with a height of 600 m. The landscape around the waterfalls is beautiful in summer, but more so in winter, when snow and ice around the waterfalls make a perfect scenery for photos.
To learn more about the city’s history, visit Heimatmuseum – the local museum – or the church built in 1433, restored in the 20th century and enriched with frescoes and stained glass.
